Constances (CONSTANCES)

CONSTANCES is a population-based general purpose longitudinal cohort designed as an infrastructure open to the national and international research community. The cohort is a 200,000 subjects random sample of the French adult population aged 18-69 at inception.

Update (September 2015): 80 125 participants have been recruited so far (target 200 000).  

The main research domains are aging, chronic diseases, occupational and environmental health, social determinants of health, womens health. Constances is also aimed at providing descriptive data on the French adult population to the public health authorities.

Follow-up is performed through annual self-questionnaires, annual linkage to national health, socioeconomic and causes of death databases and regular health examinations (every 5 years).
